Calling all Francophiles
We are planning a trip to France and we want your input!
Do you have any knowledge of Bordeaux or the Dordogne/Perigord region? Have any favorite spots in Paris we should check out? Any good books to add to our reading list? Can you suggest a vineyard? A chateau? A beautiful drive/hike? A cheese to seek out? A good restaurant? Places to avoid?
Here's what we're thinking: (*denotes UNESCO World Heritage Site)
In Bordeaux (3 days)
• The Saint-AndrĂ© Cathedral* (Site of Eleanor of Aquitaine's 1137 wedding to Louis VII of France)
• The Saint-Seurin Basilica*
• The Saint-Michel Basilica*
• Museum of Aquitaine
• Wine tasting class
In Saint-Emilion* (1/2 day en route to Dordogne/Perigord)
• Explore village/church
• Vineyard tour (need to pick vineyard)
In and around Dordogne/Perigord (4 days) (staying in Sourzac):
• Market day in small town, maybe Sarlat*
• Numerous Chateaux in the area to explore
• Rocamadeur
• Hike/walk one day?
• Grotte de Font-de-Gaume* (cave paintings) & Musee de la Prehistoire
In Paris (4.5 days):
• Louvre
• Walking around: Notre Dame, Eiffel Tower, banks of Seine*
• Versailles*
